The Hidden Dangers of Bioaccumulation (And How to Avoid Them)

Have you heard of bioaccumulation? This word sounds ominous, and honestly: It kind of is.

It refers to the buildup of a substance (usually a not-so good-for-you substance) in the body, which can lead to adverse health effects.

Bioaccumulation and Your Body

You may not think you’re experiencing bioaccumulation, but if you’re using skincare products that contain preservatives, there’s a good chance that these preservatives are building up in your system.

See, many of the commercial products we use every day aren’t actually free of chemicals that are known to cause damage to our bodies. Instead, they contain these chemicals in very low doses.

The belief is that if you only use that one product with that very small dose of bad-for-you ingredient in it, then you will be okay. However, the reality is that most of us use a multitude of these types of products every day, upping our dose from negligible to concerning.

In concentrated doses, skincare preservatives (like frequently used parabens) can not only irritate your skin. They also can disrupt your endocrine system and even cause reproductive harm.

Other types of preservatives have been shown to cause issues with breathing, eye irritation, organ damage, and  lymphatic system damage.

Our bodies are excellent at filtering out a certain amount of dangerous chemicals. But after a while, our bodies become overloaded and can’t filter out the chemicals as efficiently.

The solution, of course, is to stop putting these chemicals into and onto your body.

At Wild Ice, we’ve developed a line of skincare that doesn’t use any dangerous preservatives that bioaccumulate and pose a threat to your health.

Instead, we’re the only company in the world that keeps all of our skincare ingredients cold until we use them to make our products. And then we keep our products cold until we ship them off to you.

Believe it or not, cold preservation actually keeps our skincare products fresher than preservatives do. This is because there are three distinct ways that skincare products can break down, and preservatives only prevent one of these. Cold preservation stops all three.

By chilling our products right up until the moment of sale, we keep anti-oxidants from oxidizing, new compounds from forming into sensitizers, and delicate ingredients such as peptides and ceramides from breaking down.

As a result, you get a product that not only is safer for your health, it’s a lot more potent, too.

Naturally Safe Skincare at Home

Here’s the good news: Even if bioaccumulation is your reality right now, it doesn’t have to be forever. Studies have shown that once your skin is given a break from the toxic preservatives that accumulate on your body, it has a chance to expel them, allowing you a fresh start.

You can get that fresh start by switching to our natural, cold-kept and preservative free line of skincare today. We recommend choosing our four-step facial set, which includes our five-star reviewed  cleanser, C-serum, toner and cold cream  for a 21% discount.
