Room temperature is the home base, somewhere around 60 to 80 °F, the band Cleveland Clinic names for a temperature-controlled room [4]. What matters is that the temperature stays fairly steady, so the two worst spots in most homes are the ones that swing: a sunny windowsill that bakes in the afternoon, and a shelf near a radiator or a heat vent.

Dark, and out of the light
Light does its own kind of damage. Some ingredients break down chemically when they are exposed to it, quite apart from any heat. Water-based vitamin C in its classic L-ascorbic acid form, for one, is inherently unstable and oxidizes on exposure to light, turning toward a yellow breakdown form [7]. That is a good stand-in for the wider rule: the more light-sensitive actives a product carries, the more it prefers a closed drawer or a box to an open, bright shelf. Dry, closed, and clean

The oil row is the one people get wrong most, and it is worth dwelling on because it runs against intuition. Where a fridge fits in a storage plan
For most people it is a small extra rather than a requirement, and here is the reason. A fridge is a nice-to-have for feel and a small help for a couple of fragile formulas, but it is not a fix for a potency problem, because that problem was usually set long before the product reached your counter.
