5 Reasons to Switch to Natural Skincare
Liudmila BuschDo you head straight for the organic produce at the grocery store, but still purchase the same drugstore moisturizer you’ve been using for years?
If so, it’s time to reconcile what you’re putting in your body with what you’re putting on your body! It’s time for natural skincare.
Here are a few compelling reasons to look to mother nature for your next spa session.
Natural Skincare is Better for Your Health
You may be surprised (or horrified) to learn that many synthetic ingredients in “conventional” skincare don’t have a whole lot of research done on them. That means you’re taking a risk putting these ingredients on your body. Many of them are known to turn into sensitizers or allergens, or even disrupt your hormones. No thanks.
Natural skincare, on the other hand, is generally safe. It contains ingredients you can pronounce and that have been safely used by humans for hundreds or thousands of years. That’s a pretty good track record!
Natural Skincare Contains More Nutritious Ingredients
Lab-formulated skincare ingredients are designed to achieve one specific goal: like lightening dark spots, for instance.
Natural ingredients, on the other hand, are full of an array of nutritious vitamins and compounds. So by default, they’re often doing double, triple or even quadruple-duty when it comes to benefitting your skin.
Take the chamomile we use in our B-Meltee Cleanser , for example. We’ve included it especially for its soothing properties, but chamomile also reduces signs of aging, combats acne and fights free radical damage, too. We couldn’t stop it from doing these things even if we wanted to!
Nature is smart, and you get so much more bang for your buck when you source your skincare from her.
It’s Better for Our Planet and Kinder to Animals
When you wash your skincare down the sink, it has to go somewhere. So what you’re sending into our waterways matters. The earth is a lot better equipped to receive and thrive with ingredients that came from her than ingredients that came from a factory. Not to mention, many factory products also require mining for products that damage the planet.
You may also not be aware of how many large “conventional” brands still test their products on animals. (We won’t name names, but PETA will .) On the other hand, the vast majority of natural brands do not test their products on animals.
It’s less Likely to Irritate Sensitive Skin
You may have been diagnosed with sensitive skin at some point in your life, but we’d rather refer to your skin as discerning! Who can blame it for being irritated, inflamed or otherwise off put by questionable factory-made ingredients?
Most conventional skincare ingredients, such as salicylic acid, have a natural alternative that’s much gentler, but still effective (even if it takes a little bit longer to see results).
Moreover, many conventional skincare products that are designed to fix one issue can create another. For example, many chemical-rich anti-acne products dry out the skin, which can lead to more acne down the road.
Several of these products also increase sensitivity to sun, which can create wrinkles and dark spots later on.
Natural skincare tends not to promote such extremes in pH, sensitivity, etc.
Natural is Just as Effective as Conventional Skincare
Natural products can lead to just as good of results as conventional skincare, and in fact can often be more potent since they’re not packed with useless (yet harmful!) fillers.
However, especially when it comes to natural products, it matters a lot how they’re produced and stored. For natural skincare to reach maximum effectiveness, it has to be kept cold. That’s why we created Wild Ice Botanicals: the world’s only cold kept skincare company. We invite you to try our line of high-potency, entirely natural skincare and experience the difference that mother nature can make.
